Yes: I am not sure exactly what you mean but i consider all masses dangerous until proven otherwise. If you are talking of surgery, i believe everyone is important so every procedure is major. You should get peace after talking to your surgeon and if not consider second opinions.

Mass: Close to heart is dangerous but could be benign like thymus or malignant , depends on what it is from.
