A member asked:

Please describe cmv retinitis and it's side effects from not being on valcyte (valganciclovir) currently awaiting patient assistance program, thank you.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Decreased vision: If the CMV retinitis involves the macula or center of retina decreased vision will be the first sign. If it is in the peripheral retina vision may not be decreased in early stages. It may show with uveitis or redness and photo-phobia. Must see an ophthalmologist if in doubt. Without prompt treatment CMV retinitis in macula may lead to blindness.
