PTSD related phobia: The quickest way to get a handle on this would be to find a therapist who does emdr. It is quite likely that just a couple of sessions of emdr would resolve this problem for you. Emdr stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. Check your phone book for therapists that list emdr as a specialization.

Not by itself: It depends on what else this traumatic experience is connected to. An isolated phobia is fairly easy to extinguish, but those which are more multiply determined can linger and be more difficult. Cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure with response prevention can be very effective. Work with a psychologist proficient in these areas for best results.

CBT: Seek a cognitive-behavioral therapist who specializes in phobias. One method they use is systematic desensitization which slowly and incrementally brings the person closer and closer to the thing they are afraid of in slow, graduated steps that help make the anxiety more tolerable.
