Go see your doctor: I'm sorry to hear about your mom's troubles. Alprazolam isn't the best option right now. Better to ask why she can't sleep and treat that. I suspect pain is keeping her awake so she needs better pain control in order to get sleep. However, i'm more concerned about swelling in her feet which suggest possible blood clot or DVT which are dangerous. So take her to her doctor for all the above.
