A member asked:

I break out with canker sores often, it could be from foods like oranges, is there a non citric food that will provide a good amount of vitamin c?

Canker sores: Some people are sensitive to sodium lauryl sulfate, or sls, an ingredient in many toothpastes. Check the labels, more natural toothpastes, and avoid this. There can also be a hormonal component to canker sore. Acidic and spicy food can make canker sore hurt so avoid when you have canker sores.

Sure, there are lots: Actually, you can get a lot of vitamin c from foods that are not citrus. Check out this list (all vitamin c amounts are for 100 g. Servings): red bell peppers (nearly 200 mg!) parsley (130 mg) broccoli (90 mg) green bell peppers (80 mg) brussels sprouts (80 mg) there are many more veges that give between 20-40 mgs of c as well. Check out ic-network.Com for the list. Happy food hunting!
