Don't use maxalt (rizatriptan): There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Maxalt (rizatriptan) should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. At this point it could be harmful to your baby.

It is probably safe.: Review of data on triptan use during pregnancy has not shown an increase in fetal abnormalities. Most of the data is with sumatriptan. Most physicians would suggest avoiding all medications early in pregnancy, when possible. You should weigh the risks and benefits and discuss with your ob/gyn.
