Infected hairs: This is fairly common in young adult males. Bacteria find a place to grow around the bases of the hairs, and form a biofilm on the shaft itself. This is not a sexually transmitted disease. Shower at least twice a day and wash the area with a good antibacterial soap. This should diminish the problem. If one of the lesions becomes very swollen or you get a fever with it, let your doctor know.
