Need diagnosis...: Before a cough can be treated, first the cause of the cough must be identified. If your cough is less than 3 weeks duration, it could be acute bronchitis, an infection of the airways. If due to bacteria, antibiotics may be needed. If the cough is of longer duration, possible etiology includes bronchospasm, gerd, post-nasal drip or a combination. See your doctor to diagnose and treat your cough.
