How to differentiate between mumps and dental abcess in children and adults?

Mumps: Parotitis may occur during mumps infections but this is nothing like a dental abscess. See a dentist and get this issue resolved. Good luck.

Totally different: Mumps is a viral infection of the large salivary glands (parotid glands) in your cheeks and will cause swollen cheeks. A dental abscess is the result of an infection in a tooth and will result in swelling of the gum next to the tooth. Left untreated a dental abscess can eventually cause additional swelling in the cheek and/or neck. Your child should be seen by their pediatric dentist asap.
