Generally no, but: Most cases of peri-orbital cellulitis are felt to start from an infection present in the blood the seeds itself to the area around the eye. It's for this reason we are so aggressive treating it with strong and often IV or shots of antibiotics. On rare occasions it an start from an infection that started in the eye, such as a bacterial pink-eye. The eye would have drainage and then it is contagious.
