Different areas: Orbital cellulitis is infection of the tissues posterior to the orbital septum within the eye socket. Periorbital cellulitis is infection in the skin and soft tissues surrounding the eye the eyelids primarily and is anterior to the orbital septum. Orbital cellulitis can involve ocular muscles and orbtal fat limiting motion of the eye. Seek care as soon as possible for antibiotic treatment.
