Sun exposure: Excessive exposure of your eyes can cause cataracts.

Retinal lesion: Perhaps your eye md noted a retinal change that was near the center of your retina ( fovea within the macula). Looking at the sun can cause solar burns and adversely affect vision, but there are other considerations too. If there are visual changes that you are experiencing, then a search for a diagnosis is valuable to you and to treatment. Discuss your concerns with your eye md.

Solar Retinopathy: Your doctor may have seen an old spot or small scar in your macula. One cause is "sun gazing" that many do as a child and seen in the past in those staring at the sun for eclipses, etc. Actually a small burn in the retina (macula).
