6 weeks to 6 months: The time line is variable, you may wish to get tested for hep c antibody for screening. If the antibody test is negative at 6 months you should get pcr test, if that is negative, it would rule out infection with hep c. Yes: While antibodies can take a longer period of time to form (4-6 weeks for igg), the pcr tests are checking for viral dna/rna and can be detected much earlier. If you have had exposure and 10-14 days have passed you could be tested. The thing with hep c is that while it can be sexually transmitted it is much more commonly passed by needle sharing, tattoos and direct exposure to blood.
