Is small dense ldl pattern b a problem?

yes, but: It's a risk factor but it's not the end of the world. See this article: http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/11122692.

Depends on Number: The type of LDL particle (small, dense pattern B versus large, fluffy pattern A) is not a key factor in determining LDL-related risk. Although pattern B is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, the reason is due to the number of LDL particles (LDL-P). if LDL-P is elevated, heart disease risk is elevated for pattern A or pattern B. If LDL-P is low, risk is low for pattern A or pattern B.
