Not enough info: People stare into space and don't talk much for all sorts of reasons. Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that includes hallucinations (seeing or hearing things not there) and delusions (believing impossilbe things), along with negative symptoms like social withdrawal. It is very impairing. If the person is not functioning well, he or she should be evaluated, though, espeicall if new.
