Peri-menses symptoms: You should get a pap, bacterial culture, bloodwork and a pelvic ultrasound. Those tests can rule out pregnancy, cancer, infection and ovarian cysts. If you don't have any of those things, then you might have a more severe form of pms. Ovarian cysts and pms may benefit from birth control treatment. Severe pms may benefit from antidepressant meds not because you are depressed but due to serotonin.
