Depends on why a CT: A ct scan can be with and/or without contrast, depending on why the scan is being done (depending on what the doctor is looking for). Sometimes, the primary care doctor orders the scan with and without contrast (sometimes it is an insurance authorization issue), and at the time of the test gets enough information from the non-contrast ct, so skips the contrast ct. One can ask her doctor about it.

Pika: They usually do a blood test to make sure your kidneys are normal; perhaps the blood test showed that the dye was. It safe for you. Ask them.
