What is orthotics?

Braces/ inserts: Orthotics for an ors is a broad term that describes braces, inserts etc... For example, a patient w/ a foot drop secondary to a nerve injury may do best walking w/ an afo( ankle foot orthosis).

orthotics: Orthotics are prescription devices used in the shoes to balance the foot. They specifically try to align the foot to the proper position to function correctly with gait.

Supports: Orthotics can be custom made from a mold or scan of your foot to provide proper support.

Fabricated supports: Custom made foot supports are fabricated to models of your feet, and incorporate corrections for abnormalities in the foot structure and/or function. See a podiatrist or orthotist for these devices.
