Unlikely...: Unlikely to be due to the anesthesia this far out. Pain meds can lead to constipation, if you're taking one. I would try treating with a high fiber diet, supplementing fiber if necessary. Might be good to also take a daily stool softener until things are more consistent. Lastly, at 55, and seeing that this is a change in your stool pattern, consider colonoscopy if you haven't had one.

Unlikely....: Typically GI associated symptoms this late after surgery are unrelated. Anesthesia in the peri-operative period can cause GI disturbances, but they are usually short lived. Pain medications (narcotics) if you still take them can cause irregularities. I recommend you see a gastroenterologist who can evaluate your GI tract, to determine how best to proceed to getting you regular.

Pain medicine...: The bowel changes you describe are most commonly caused by the narcotics you received for the surgery and for your post op pain afterwards. In the future, if you find this particularly distressing, you can discuss non narcotic options with your surgeon and anesthesiologist.
