I have chronic back pain and have had for a few years now. could this be something to do with me feeling like i have appendicitis around hip area?

Possible: Possible but doubtful secondary to your age. But if this has been going on a few years, i would certainly have this checked out. There are some abnormalities of the hip that do occur prior to complete fusion of bone that need to be ruled out.
