Destruction: Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency typically occurs after destruction of the pancrease, (pancrelipase) usually from chronic pancreatitis. Causes include, gallstones, alcohol, hi triglycerides, autoimmune, hemachromatosis, medications, pancreatic divism ; sphincter of odi dysfunction. Other causes could be cystic fibrosis, cancer/tumor growth, sarcoidosis, amyloidosis, or idiopathic.
