Why does my lymph node get swollen when i gets cold sore?

Reacting to virus: A cold sore is caused by cold viruses. The lymph node you mention is apparently the first node that collects the bacteria and viruses from the damaged site and it filters out infection. The node swells while the bacteria or virus are destroyed.
