Avoid reinjury: Hamstring strains are seen commonly in orthopedic sports medicine. Unfortunately their treatment hasn't changed much in the last 20 years( unless u r an elite athlete w/ a severe proximal avulsion type injury). Healing generally takes a full 6 wks. Immediate ice; nsaids, and rest are mainstay of tx. Avoiding re-injury and prolonging the time for healing are paramount.
