Thrush vs cancer: Do you mean vaginal yeast infection? It is possible you have it in the mouth too, which would explain your symptoms and is called thrush. You might benefit from a special medicated mouthwash. Being a smoker puts you at risk for this but also mouth cancer which should be ruled out. See an ENT doctor.

Diflucan: For oropharyngeal use usually 200mg 1'st day followed by 100mg daily for 2 weeks. Is this the dosage prescribed for you, or are you dosing yourself with some leftover meds? Are you sure you have a fungal overgrowth, or did your Dentist say it could be something else? Cannot diagnose you on this general information site. Best advice, see your Dentist or an ENT.
