Not good: While salt water helps reduce inflammation, it will not help this type of viral lesion. Talk to your pharmacist. There are otc meds that can help mask symptoms.

OUCH!: Salt water will hurt very badly if you rinse with it over a canker sore. The best treatment is to leave the canker sore alone.
