Yes: Brain herniation is a potentially deadly side effect of very high intracranial pressure that occurs when a part of the brain is squeezed across structures within the skull. The brain can shift across many structures. It can be diagnosed with ct or mri.

Yes: It can be seen in a number of circumstances - tumors e.G can cause slow herniation of brain tissue into an adjacent compartment without severe symptoms whereas traumatic herniation is usually accompanied by severe symptoms (coma or even death).
