Three months: Most physicians will recommend at least three months, for multiple reasons. Whether a spontaneous miscarriage or having had a d&c, one desire is to have the cervix regain it's strength of closure for future pregnancies. Other beliefs are that the uterus has prepared the lining for a healthy pregnancy after a number of menstrual periods. The best answer is about 3 months.

Yes: A large portion of abnormal pregnancies will miscarry or stop growing by 8 weeks. Many of the rest will be lost by 12 weeks.

Is it hard to conceive after having a miscarriage?

Dr. Wendy Askew

Shouldn't be: A single miscarriage wont affect or impair future fertility. It may take 4 to six weeks for your body to start cycling normally again, but you should not have trouble conceiving. Just remember that it is normal for conception to take up to a year (that's the definition of normal time to conceive) - so don't worry if it takes several months. Good luck!
