A 19-year-old male asked:

what kind of food that may support vertical growth (tallness) in a person.

Healthy lifestyle: You are most likely to reach your tallest potential height by following a healthy diet, getting appropriate sleep ; and remaining physically active.Nothing you eat or drink will add inches to their final height. You can stunt your growth by the opposite, poor diet/sleep/inactivity can all take a toll.At a listed age of 20, your growth centers are likely closed and you are finished growing taller.

No: If your baby is gaining well and he/she is not requiring more and more frequent feeds, then you baby should be getting enough food.
A member asked:

When will my baby be able to handle large pieces of food?

Dr. Lisa Roberts
Pediatrics 23 years experience
Depends: Most infants can start to tolerate more solid foods (such as bits of pasta) around 9 months of age. This often occurs around the same age the baby develops a good pincer grasp. However, some babies have problems which delay the timing (eg. Reflux, feeding aversion or gagging). Also many premature babies need extra time to develop this skills. It is best to consult your doctor on the right timing.

Dr. Janesta Noland

Yes: Here are the caveats: avoid carrots, turnips, parsnips which can take high levels of nitrates from the soil. Make sure storage containers are sterilized just as you would do with canning. Have fun!
A member asked:

What should I do if my baby is really particular about the food he eats?

Keep trying: Keep introducing new foods with different textures and flavors. Often they will have to try something up to 10-15 times before liking it. Babies and kids are more likely to eat when they see others eating as well. Be a model for your children and talk about how yummy and healthy the food is. Above all, don't give up, keep introducing those healthy foods and try not to resort to processed foods.

Yes: Frozen vegetables often maintain nutrients better than vegetables shipped long distances. Make sure the food is not heavy in salt and saturated fats. Read the label carefully.
