Rest, Ice, Ibuprofen: The scapula is rarely broken and more commonly the fracture involves the collar bone. For true scapular fractures it depends on the location and if it is full or partial. In most cases, the heavy musculature provides support and the bone will heal by itself. Rest, ice, treatment of pain are the mainstays with also use of scheduled anti-inflammatory. A sling to limit mobility may also help.

Scapula fractures: Because of the muscle mass around there usually little displacement of the scapula. Keep the scapula stable by wearing a sling. It takes about 6 weeks to heal.

Generally these are: Treated without surgery if the fx is in the body of the scapula; if it involves the neck or the glenoid(the socket) and is displaced, then surgery to fix it. So it depends on the location of the fx..
