Diarrhea and allergy: If you already see a gastroenterologist. If all infectious, hormonal etiologies have been ruled out and your doctor see a lot of eosinophilic infiltration in your gut, you might have a type of food allergy that causes severe diarrhea called eosinophilic gastroenteritis. If this is the case, you might need to be on elemental diet. Allergist physicians like us treat this condition.
