see details: If you are on warfarin, the dose needs to be increased. If you are on lovenox, (enoxaparin) the test means nothing. If you were on oral contraceptives do not restart them ever. If you were not on ocs at the time of the DVT get tested for coagulation abnormalities.

Post-thrombotic synd: Post-thrombotic syndrome (pts) can occur as long-term complications of DVT and affects up-to 50% of patients following leg dvt. If the symptoms of pain ; swelling you mentioned are worse after walking/standing for long periods of time ; improve with resting or elevating the leg than pts is likely. Damage to venous valves from the DVT leads to valvular incompetence increasing the pressure in veins.

INR standardization: When doctors order a prothrombin time (pt) to evaluate clotting function an inr is always reported with it. The inr is a ratio of the measured time compared to a standard time obtained when calibrating the machine. Each machine can get different results based on how the test is run so the inr allows interpretation across different machines. An inr of 1 is normal but is only one of many tests.
