i am a 45 year old male. my restin heart rate is 42-44bpm. when running a 3 mile sub 6 min/mile pace my max heart rate touched 205bpm. is this normal?

probably not: The maximum predicted heart rate for someone your age is 175. That's not hard and fast but 205 sounds suspicious. You should undergo a treadmill stress test and see if you can reproduce that hr on cardiac monitoring. If not, you should wear a 30 day event monitor.
