A member asked:

I have an unusual lipoprofile. nmr results: total-c 250, ldl-c 160, hdl-c 80, trigs 51; ldl-p 1900, pattern a, hdl-p 37. should i worry?

possibly: Ldl, HDL and triglycerides are independent risk factors. A high LDL should still be treated even if the HDL and triglycerides are good.

LDL-P is Concerning: Data from multiple studies show elevated LDL-P (greater than 1300) is significantly predictive of increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk even if HDL-C or HDL-P are elevated. Also, CVD risk associated with high LDL-P is present whether pattern a (large LDL size) or pattern b (small LDL size) is present.
