Dyspareunia: Up to 1/5 of women will have painful intercourse a year after delivery, breastfeeding lowers estrogen levels which may cause some vaginal atrophy. Use of vaginal lubricants and vaginal moisture replenishers can help. If there is a specific area that is more painful get an exam by your doctor to see what is causing the pain.
