Yes, but complicated: First off, slowed gut parastalsis can reduce appetite (loss of sense of smell & thereby taste contributes too) , cause early satiety (filling quickly), constipation & leave the person feeling gassy & bloated. This causes a cycle of poor appetite & weight loss. In advanced disease, people can also develop dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) & may cough, choke, or even aspirate (food in windpipe).
