Yes: People with lupus can have a variety of cutaneous manifestations. There are many rashes from lupus but people with lupus can also get rashes that are not from lupus. You need a dermatology evaluation because different rashes need different therapies. If the rash is from lupus that needs direct attention. There are topical, oral and injection therapies and specific rashes need specific rx.

Yes it can: Two classic rashes are the 'butterfly" shaped rash on cheeks, and circular red rashes called "discoid" lesions; either can occur in either the superficial skin form or the systemic form of lupus. Rashes tend to worsen after sun exposure. Other rashes are common. Diagnosis is important and a rheumatologist and dermatologist can be helpful.
