hoe long does parainfluenza / croup last? had steroid shot so how long before improvement ? how long keep home from school ? his dr wasn't helpful :0(

Depends: Croup symptoms generally peak 2 to 3 days after the symptoms of the viral infection begin. Viral croup usually lasts 3 to 7 days. Steroid shot usually works in a few hours and can last to up to 24 hours. If your child is still having breathing problems or feverish, then have them seen by a doctor immediately.
