Periods: It sounds like you started your period at the correct time while on the pill. The appearance of the blood reflects how long it has been sitting in the uterus or back of the vagina. The color and consistency are not very important.

Could be normal: When starting the pill you can have some unusual or irregular cycles. If heavy it persistent contact your primary car doc.
