One per day : Taking birth control pills is very simple. You take one pill every day. You start at the beginning of the pack. You take one per day in order. When you finish the pack you start the next pack. It's easy because you do not have to think or decide what to do. Just take one per day in order.

Take as directed: Your prescribing physician should have explained to you to take your pack as directed regardless of what's happening in your cycle. Eventually, your body adjusts to your pills (yes, strange, i know). We typically ask that you allow 3 months of adjustment on any new pill. So yes, keep taking active pills if you have more to take. Take sugar pills at scheduled time to allow time for regular menses.
