White patch: There are several possibilities: 1. Leukoplakia, which may be caused by irritation to the tongue or smoking/chewing tobacco, and can be a precursor to oral cancer. 2. Thrush, which is a yeast infection 3. Lichen planus if this lasts for more than 10 days, see your dentist for an examination.

White patch: All white patches in the mouth, of greater than 10-14 days duration, require examination. Make an appointment with your Dentist for 14 days after the 1st day that you noticed the white spot. If it's gone by then, cancel the appointment. If it's still present, important that you keep the appointment.
