A member asked:

Is it true that adult (>18yrs) absorbs about 30% calcium from food?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable / managed: If there is adequate calcium in the diet, a person of any age will absorb about as much as they need due to the action of parathyroid hormone, which is produced in response to the need to keep serum calcium up. A person who's calcium-deficient / vitamin d deficient is likely to absorb more. The amount lost in the urine is also regulated.
