A member asked:

I have portal vein thrombosis as well as a clot in my right kidney and ovary. how uncommon is my condition? can the clots be removed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very uncommon: Pv thrombosis is a very uncommon condition and is usually seen in a setting of hypercoagulablility, the over propensity of blood to clot, either due to medications or conditions. The clots are not removed surgically, but with anticoagulation (a type of medicine which you should be on) and your body's clot dissolving mechanisms will work together to dissolve the clots and keep more from forming.
