A member asked:

If you got hit pretty hard and blacked out while you were drunk. how do you know if you've had a concussion or just had too much to drink?

I would encourage: You to be evaluated w history. The combination of head injury followed by period that you were either unconscious or in an altered state could represent a concussion or concussion ; alcohol -related blackout. Possible concussion sxs: + or – loss of consciousness, headache / pressure, can't recall event, dizziness, v coordination, ringing ears, confusion, slurred speech, nausea / vomiting, fatigue.

Hard to say: Black outs if they preceeded the knock on the head are probably alcohol related. I would talk with my doctor and track any symptoms and signs of cognitive issues in the next 2 weeks. Balance, vision issues, inattentiveness, fatigue, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, etc.
