No: It could have been a lymph node, but it is much more likely that it was a cyst. Even if it were a node, squeezing won't kill you, but squeezing anything like this can make it worse. These are best handled if large or annoying, by having a doctor treat it.

No - don't squeeze: Earlobes don't have lymph nodes. There are lymph nodes all around the ear, but none in the pinna or lobe. It is never a good idea to squeeze lumps - it can lead to infection and scarring. It sounds like whatever you picked at is unlikely to lead to your death.
