too low a dose?: Xanax (alprazolam) usually begins to work within an hour or so, so i'm not sure. Perhaps you take antacids or some other medicine that slows absorption. I suggest you consult with your treating physician to get a specific answer for you specifically. It could also be you need a dose adjustment.
