Taste disturbances: Sinus infections make food taste bad for several reasons: 1. Swelling in the sinuses can disturb the sense of smell which is important in our 'taste' of food. 2. Purulent (infected fluid) discharge drains down the back of the throat and into the mouth and pus never tastes nice 3. The fluid also drains down into the stomach and makes one nauseated. All in all, not an epicurean delight.
