No/very similar: Amoxicillin and Ampicillin are not the same but they are very similar. Amoxicillin and Ampicillin have an identical bacterial spectrum of activity. Amoxicillin is absorbed better when given by mouth. Ampicillin is available in IV and oral form while Amoxicillin is only given orally.
