Two Diff. Half-Lives: The issue, as in most treatments, is not just the half-life of the agent (rx, otc, food etc) but the larger issue of the half-life of the changes which occur as a physiologic response to the agent. Half-life refers to the time from peak concentration to the concentration falling to 1/2 of peak, then 1/2 again down to 1/4, ; so on. Most intermittently taken agents are dosed based on this principle.
