Yes : It is usually done in this setting. Only takes a few minutes in the hands of an experienced physician and only requires minimal preparation and you can go on about your day afterwards and may drive as no sedation is needed. But unless they are looking for something specific in the lower colon and rectum it is not a thorough colon exam.
