Machines: 2 machines at the gym / club designed for this. Hip abductors, and hip abductors. While sitting in the seat , one has you start with knees together and you then move them apart against weight. The other has you start with the legs far apart and then has you bring the knees together. Other machines available. These work well. Ask trainer at gym for help. Good Luck.

Hip strength.: Squats, deadlifts, leg presses, good mornings, stiff-legged deadlifts and roman chair knee lifts would all be good exercises to involve and strength the muscles of the hips.
